The City of Birmingham is commited to serving the LGBTQ+ community through uplift and empowerment
The state of Alabama along with 29 other states lack LGBTQ+ non-discrimination laws.in 2019, mayor Woodfin joined the Mayors Against LGBTQ+ Discrimination coalition along with 140 other mayors,city council members and municipal leaders to urge congress to pass a comprehensive set of nondiscrimination protections at the federal level. Mayors against LGBTQ Discrimination is a bipartisan coalition of municipal leaders dedicated to securing inclusive nondiscrimination protections for all to ensure that every LGBTQ+ American is protected no matter what city or state they call home
Birmingham AIDS outreach and the Office of
the mayor have demonstrated the correlation
between mental and physical health disparities
for the LGBTQ+ population and have a
commitment to work together to provide
services to the LGBTQ+ community. The
ccollaborative agreement includes providing
support, hosting training classes, recieving
referrals and referring LGBTQ+ INDIViduals to
BAO programs and community education.
